Alice may be nowhere in sight, but her wonderland has certainly landed in Sydney.

Stepping alongside some of Sydney’s biggest iconic buildings has taken on a new twist during the world’s largest festival of light, music and ideas – Vivid Sydney 2015.

Now in it’s seventh year, the incredible light and sculpture show runs in Circular Quay, as well as The Rocks, Walsh Bay, Darling Harbour, Pyrmont and Martin Place with more than 60 light installations.

And with more than half of all the installations being interactive, just walking near them or talking as you pass can trigger some of that wonderland magic.

At Paint the Town, operated from a control desk in the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay, festival-goers choose their own colour combinations to light up buildings. The external stairway of the AMP building has been transformed into a giant keyboard, with visitors able to jump on the keys and compose their own tunes.

Another fun piece takes place at Cadmans Cottage, where the building’s architecture is brought to life with graphics and games that can be played with in real time by passers-by.

The whole building is monitored using 3D depth-camera analysis, which creates a live digital silhouette of each person in the vicinity.

At First Fleet Park in The Rocks, kids can play on an illuminated swing set. And everyone is welcome to hug Dolly, a giant, glowing doll made of crocheted rope installed at Campbells Cove.

This year the event isn’t just restricted to the CBD either, with the University of Sydney and Chatswood taking part too.
And while the festival is expanding quicker than we can keep up with, there’s also the well-established favourites, such as the transformation of Custom House which is this year turned into a flora and fauna masterpiece calledEnchanted Sydney, and of course the Opera House which lends it’s canvas-styled white sails to a visual masterpiece.

So whether you like chasing white rabbits or not, it’s time to step into the infamous streets of Sydney’s Circular Quay and soak up all there is on offer in this fairytale styled masterpiece.

The 2015 Vivid Sydney festival of light, music and ideas runs nightly until June 8.
