6 WAYS TO PUT THE WONDERLAND INTO YOUR WINTER EVENT
Winter is really getting a hold on Australia right now, so it seems pretty on trend to add a touch of wintry glamour to your all-important occasion. Here are some tips to add an essence of wonderland to your next event:
1) Foliage and flowers
Try using seasonal flowers and plants such as snowdrops, eucalyptus, silver wattle, protea or hydrangea to make a statement and set the scene.
Or for true atmosphere, rely on creating your signature style with branches, twigs, pine cones or green foliage.
2) Textured backdrops
Have fun adding texture to any backdrop with heavy fabrics such as wool or tweed, or use heavy white drapes to fake snow-covered wall effects. Hanging chandeliers or disco balls can boast a sleek, sophisticated, icy tone too.
3) Table pieces
Create a snow-like feel with silver sequinned table linens, introduce ice-like crystal candle holders or shape white floral displays into fluffy snowball-like effects. Candles can help infuse a hue of gold and red to achieve a harvest festival feel.
4) Ski-chalet inspiration
Think open fire, wrought iron lanterns, fur, rustic wood tables and piles of wood. Valiant Hire suggest mixing in a few glass coffee tables, cream coloured lounges and a quirky antler chandelier to create this easy, yet effective look.
Whether it’s a subtle ice sculpture as a centrepiece or an all-out ice theme with ice bar and ice cups, it’s certainly one way to whisk your clientele into the desired feel.
When it comes to lighting, there are two clear winners - Cold Winter, or Warm Winter.
For Cold Winter, team blue with purple, silver or scattered warm pearl lighting to inject a glistening fairytale look.Valiant Hire recommend the use of their stunning Avatree (below) to really set this icy mood.
Warm Winter relies on white/cream and brown tones which are especially effective when mixed with the Ski-Chalet theme.
